Re: horrorfest 2007
Sun, January 6, 2008 - 9:56 AMI live in SF and saw all but one. They played at the Century 20 in Daly City which is just a block from the Daly City BART station. They weren't terrible. Some were good, but 2006 had a better overall program of films. -

Sun, January 13, 2008 - 12:39 PMno, more like there be sold for 15 at first, cause that is what walmart did. there pretty expensive when thay first come out. that is why i am buying them bootleg first. i got like 4 of them so far. -

Re: horrorfest 2007
Mon, January 14, 2008 - 4:11 AMwell, considering that i set the prices for my store, i'm sticking with my story...when you are pricing them, you can sell them for however much you want.
i make a deal with the studio, so that i can sell them for less over the first month...WalMart doesn't care about horror or genre films, so they don't go for the same special pricing on these specific titles...with the regular cost structure, we would sell them for $15, but because of the deal, they will most likely be $11.88 or less...
fuck WalMart, and fuck bootlegs of cheap, easily obtainable films... -

Re: horrorfest 2007
Mon, January 14, 2008 - 11:41 AMand support local businesses. And bootlegging happens, but be aware of what studio or company you are bootlegging from.
Frankly, I am quite well aware as a consumer that my dollar is a voice towards the genre.
Opening night, DVD releases new and old... I know my dollar strengthens the genre.
anyhoo... of all genres, who has the best fans?
HORROR FOR SURE! -

Re: horrorfest 2007
Mon, January 14, 2008 - 1:57 PMgotta agree with you on who has the best fans...or at least which fans seem to buy the best range of product. i love to see all the upcoming DTV horror stuff when my reps come in to make their pitches...i know that those are the ones that could have the best chance of being a pleasant surprise sales-wise
i just hope that the business can keep going with all of the challenges from within and outside of the industry...it'd be a shame if there weren't as much stuff being produced and distributed...i'd hate to miss out on anything good ;)
i know that bootlegging happens, especially in genre films, but i hate to see smaller studios lose money to some street guy when they are actually going out on that ledge to put out the groundbreaking stuff in the first place...the only bootlegs i get are films that are unavailable through any other means...and i usually replace those with the official copies if they become available...i guess that's really a rant for a different forum though
