  there have been a lot of direct to video flicks with that theme...the one that played in theatres that i remember was called Stay Alive...is that it? do you know any of the actors or crew involved?
  
  my favorite that mostly fits that description would be eXistenZ...
  it's not really a horror film, and came out more than a few years ago, but it's a good thriller by a great director with a solid cast

    It isn't a horror film? A thriller?? From what I remember from the commerical, it looked like one.

      No, Stay Alive is a pretty fun horror film (unlike Staying Alive, which is just a not-so-fun horrible film).
      
      eXistenZ is the sci-fi thriller with similar elements...I was recommending that one as it's usually overlooked. ;)

        i was going to say stay alive, man that was a great film, there was another one too but can't think of the name a guy is playing a video game and when he kills in the game he kills in real life.
