I recently rented this latest installment of George Romer's Zombie flicks
Has anyone seen it?
If so what did you think of it?
I liked it, definitely worth a watch
and I thought it was better than Land of The Dead...the previous Dead movie

Fri, August 1, 2008 - 3:34 PMYeah, I was somewhat disappointed with "Land Of The Dead" myself....I mean there were some genuinely good parts to the movie...but for the most part upon repeated viewings, I was left frustrated with it...I wanted it to be better than it really was...I just love a good zombie story and especially a good zombie movie
I think you will like it...if you stick with it...it is a little slow in parts :) -

It is definitely worth watching. Not as compelling as I had hoped. Prof is silly. The most interesting part comes when the RV hits the first zombies. At least... psychologically, as they deny the possibility of zombies, albeit having hit some, and the implications of that.

I thought it was completely ridiculous. Highly pretentious, poorly acted, & the message was very heavy handed & over the top. -

The zombie action was fun, but not enough to carry to whole feature.
i hate to say it (because i respect Romero so much), but i give this movie a "C-" and thats being generous.

Tue, August 12, 2008 - 12:29 PMI couldn't get beyond why the guy was filming his friends getting eaten rather then helping them. Same problem I had with Cloverfield. Until they can find a legit explanation on why these characters are filming then the Camcorder POV genre will suck ass. -

Tue, August 12, 2008 - 2:22 PMI thought the character's behaviour in this was MUCH MUCH MUCH worse than Cloverfield. I really enjoyed Cloverfield, I had a few problems with it - but I would enjoy it again. Even Rec. had that camera POV, and it was infinitely better than Diary of the Dead. And the characters were terrible anyway. I didn't care about any of them, I wanted them all to die within the first 20 minutes. And dear god, the dialogue... oooooh, that awful dialogue...
Now, I love George Romero - but the last 2 movies have been sub-par - I know he tries to make a social statement with each movie, which is great! But he's fallen short... I think what needs to happen is he needs his budget taken away. -
