So I have this tradition... for the entire month of October....
me and my buddies get together and watch old horror flix.
Sometime we pick based on genre, ( Zombies,Vampires, etc.)
director, ( Argento,Bava,Castle, etc.) or decade This year we're
watching a few Hammer Classics ( Damn I miss ' Bob Wilkin's
Creature Feature !! ' ) and some Vincent Price gems. So far we've seen:

The Devil Rides Out
Plague Of The Zombies
Witchfinder General aka General Worm
Theater Of Blood
Dracula Has Risen From The Grave
Capt. Kronos Vampire Hunter
Mask Of The Red Death
Premature Burial
I Monster
Fall Of The House Of Usher
The Satanic Rites Of Dracula
The Pit & The Pendulum

Anyone have any suggestions?
They don't have to be Hammer films.
Basically we're open to watching anything
from the 60's and 70's. Last week we saw Omega Man. LOL!
Wow! Dig those fonky fros on them zombies!

What do you guys do for Halloween?

I have an old documentary from the BBC about Hammer Films. I wish I could remember the name of it...but I can recommend it! :D

I like to watch John Carpenter's Halloween and The Shining this time of year. I also listen to some of my favorite soundtracks too.

LOL! I love Halloween more than Christmas as well Cindy !
I heard John Stanley was at the Castro Theater last week?
I think they played Blacula? ( another fave of mine. )
I like Stanley..but Bob was the man in my mind!
      I've heard he has parkinsons?

What soundtracks do you play Kevin? I have a cd set
of stuff by Goblin that I like to play. That and a collection
of Morricone score's for some Argento flix. Is the Hammer
doc called "Flesh & Blood?" I saw that many years ago.
      I remembered I liked it....but it's been so long since I've
seen it I don't remember much about it.

yes, they had a great big thing at the castro theatre! (yes, there was 'blacula'!) i have them on my myspace friends too, and they kept sending bulletins about the event, and i was nearly ready to jump on a plane to go see! my credit card said 'no', though! lol! i didn't know he had parkinson's...i heard a while ago that he was deceased, so i just very happy to know he was still living.

Yeah...they had a tribute to Bob in El Cerrito last March.
He's old...but still kickin! Here's a clip of the event.

            Hi M!

I guess my favorite soundtracks are (in no particular order):
            The Shining
            Halloween
            Phantasm
            The Fog
            Creepshow
            Dawn Of The Dead
            Day Of The Dead
            Prince Of Darkness
            Nosferatu The Vampyre (Herzog)
            Tenebre
            Jacob's Ladder
            Nekromantic
            Nightmare Before Christmas
            Nightmare On Elm Street

I also love the theme to Kolchak The Night Stalker (70's), The Twilight Zone themes, and pretty much anything else by Goblin (except Squadra Antigangsters...that's simply awful). :D

            Re: Hammer Film Documentary

I found the tape. It's called "Hammer: The Studio That Dripped Blood" from 1987. It's not quite an hour long. Here's a link to the Internet Movie Database listing. www.imdb.com/title/tt0810887/

Have you seen "From Hell It Came" yet? It's a cheesy classic from 1957 about a tree (the Tabanga) that kills people. It's pretty funny to watch.

              OMG !!
              I remember that film !
It looked like an evil version of one
of the trees from HR Puffinstuff ! LOL!
              ( oops...did I just date myself? ) ;-)

I have heard of that doccumentary
but I haven't seen it. I'd love to though !
I truly have a soft spot for Hammer horror.

I like the theme from The Night Stalker as well !
The Twilight Zone theme is classic!
I remember the theme from Night Gallery used
to freak me out as a child. We have musical
themes at my job on thurs & fri. Today is rock / stoner rock
day. I think I'm going to bring my Goblin cd. It's raining
here....and it just seems like the right thing to do.
Besides...if I don't I may be subjected to listening to
Whitesnake and Damn Yankees all day! Bleech!!

Has Goblin done stuff other than "Suspiria"? I LOVE that soundtrack. I brought it to work once and this girl had a moment of "oh, we're like each other" during the 'Death Valzer' but then I crushed that dream by telling her it was a horror movie soundtrack and playing the rest of it. BWAHAHAHA.
