I just saw it this weekend. I thought it was a bit incomplete. Yep, body shot of Will Smith.
Anyone else see it? I want to hear your comments.

Re: I AM LEGEND. Did you see it?
Tue, December 18, 2007 - 10:43 AMyes I saw it on Saturday night. It was so-so. Great NY scenes. The zombie/vampire people looked horrible. They didn't even look real; they looked like video game characters.
My favorite scene was the shrek and bacon scene. So funny.

Re: I AM LEGEND. Did you see it?
Sun, December 23, 2007 - 11:09 PMI saw it last night and thought it was alright. It was kind of a long shot from the old school Richard Matheson novel, and I think I like the old Vincent Price flick better (followed the book more). I agree about the vamps though :( Could've used a little more work in the graphics department there.

Thu, December 27, 2007 - 9:45 AMYeah, I like the post apocalypse NYC effects. CGI vampire-zombies were a real bummer, though. -

Re: I AM LEGEND. Did you see it?
Thu, December 27, 2007 - 11:22 PMI am a die hard book fan... realistic, but die hard. I knew it couldn't be the book.
Long and short.. I loved the movie. Yes the vampires sucked in action. SUCKED. Reminded me of the sandman from SM3... just incomplete and not compelling.
BUT I did love it...
And I will say one thing in the entire script that I will say was flawed. The dog should have lived. I know the book, and I know it is the most important death in the book less his... but if some people are going to live, and they do the sappy happy shite at the end of the film... the dog should have been given the serum in the room at the end, having "almost died" in the lab earlier. I think the dog should have been changing, near death, and a second reason of proof that the serum was working.
It is my favourite story ever.... at least one of them... and as a dog owner who knows that Michael Bay plays with his audiences with cheap shots..... I would have liked to see the dog come perilously close to death.. only to be shoved in the safe room and then prance up to the Berneise Mountain Dog at the end.
Hell.. if they make it sappy and different than the book, at least give me a sappier ending with a cute puppy.
I really can't complain about the film tho.. it was what I was looking for in a fun film. -

Re: I AM LEGEND. Did you see it?
Mon, December 31, 2007 - 7:54 AMI saw it this weekend finally. I couldn't help but compare it to Omega Man. I felt like I was paying for Will Smiths therapy. -
-
Re: I AM LEGEND. Did you see it?
Mon, December 31, 2007 - 9:26 AMOmega Man was based on the same source material, so it's not surprising that it reminded you of it ;)

Re: I AM LEGEND. Did you see it?
Mon, December 31, 2007 - 7:52 AMi've got to admit that i liked it more than i thought i would after hearing about the cg-vampire issues (sure, i would've liked to see live action/costume/makeup monsters)...
i tried to stay away from spoilers, but i had seen the trailers and commercials, so i knew a bit about the look of the film...and having read the book i had some idea of where it might be going (glad they didn't shy away from the dog death - however manipulative, it's the most powerful emotional point in the film)
i thought that the whole thing was very well done, and couldn't imagine a better blockbuster version of the film...perhaps a bit more focus on his human testing, and how he felt about it after showing the girl his results? that said, there were plenty of topics for conversation after the film...i loved the scenes of city evacuation (gave me hope for the eventual World War Z film), and the post-plague shots of NYC...looked amazing on the big screen
i would definitely recommend it as an action-horror flick to anyone interested in some fun entertainment -

I would have to agree on this.
Of course, the dog death made me want to cry.
