Re: AVP:R
Thu, December 27, 2007 - 11:17 PMYou know... it isn't a surprise that this sucked... but the Dark Horse series was OUT OF FUCKING CONTROL...
if they had had the religious sects on earth worshipping the aliens, etc.... it would have been complex, dark, and brilliant... or at least it had a better chance.
Is it worth seeing in the theatre at all? -

I enjoy going to the cinema, it has rarely happened that I have been displeased when leave, so I'm going to avoid answering that, because the cinema is more than just a movie for me.
The only time I was disappointed was when I went to see Reign of Fire, I was on a diet, so there was no popcorn in the boring parts.

Re: AVP:R
Fri, December 28, 2007 - 11:21 AMWell.. I liked Reign a lot as a weird cultish sci fi action horror drama with babies in an oprhanage.
And Matt looked fucking psycho.
Guess I can catch it then... I know what you mean. Frankly my next film will be no Country for Old Men..... then we shall see! -

Re: AVP:R
Fri, December 28, 2007 - 12:09 PMand you will NOT be disappointed by that film!!!! I love Javier Bardem, and he scared me.
Didn't you find in Reign of Fire that the highly trained Americans in Europe walked right into the Dragon trap in the city?? That blew it for me. But I can understand why you liked it. -

Re: AVP:R
Fri, December 28, 2007 - 4:52 PMthat was my problem with Reign of Fire...i couldn't understand how this "elite group" had survived so long when they got taken apart without a fight in the big effects sequence...i would've at least liked to see a bit more fight from the big tough army guys we saw in the beginning of the film
i thought it was pretty enough, but they could have done so much more...
anyway, somewhat more related to topic, even though i know i shouldn't want to see AVP:R at all, for some reason i do

Re: AVP:R
Fri, December 28, 2007 - 4:59 PMI thought they did a pretty good job with the Predator and his gear but the Aliens looked like someone was holding the head off screen and moving it up and down. What I couldn't understand was why dude didn't have a second set of keys or something rather then crawling down into the sewer and sticking his hand into unknown toxic shit. -

Re: AVP:R
Sat, December 29, 2007 - 3:48 PMalways these HUGE gaps of logic in these films. Something is always missing. Saw the new Halloween last night... fantastic. But I am still having trouble believing that Michael knew where to find his kid sister.... even if he did read that piece of mail.
Weird.
Anyhoo... about Reign... ditto. The elite crew getting dusted was lame.
They fell victim... ignoring the third oldest rule in the book.
The second is to never get involved in a landwar in Asia.
The first, of course, is don't ever go in against a Sicilian, when death is on the line!
