What are some of your favorite Horror Novels that you have read that you would like to see turned into a well made kick-ass movies?
I am a fairly huge Zombie Fan, so I would love to see the following Novels turned to Movies
Max Brooks "World War Z" (I have heard that this book is actually in development for a movie...but word is on the sketchy side)
Brian Keene's "The Rising", "City of The Dead" and "Dead Sea" (A trilogy of kick ass zombie stories!).....and his non Zombie work "Conqueor Worm" (Freaky end of the world stuff, check it out :) You may be glad you did :) )
"Wet Works" (A Novella about the effects of a passing comet that causes the dead to reanimate....the main character is a Special Ops Soldier that comes back to life after being murdered by his own goverment. The other zombies in the Novel are intelligent, thinking evil undead creatures....)

Re: Favorite Horror Novel turned into a Movie
Thu, June 12, 2008 - 12:06 PMArcangel,
Nice topic, but I am a Stephen King fan, and well, we all know how those movies turn out :(
Nevertheless, I would like to see "Floating Dragon" by Peter Straub, or maybe "Odd Thomas" by Dean Koontz. -

Totally agree with you about Stephen King....99% of his Movies have been turned into just god awful, pure crap!! Even the re-envisioning of his previous Movies that were turned into TV Mini-series...like the Shining...left much to be desired
I think there is no hope for a Stephen King Novel being turned into a kick ass horror movie...sad to say
Actually?
Koontz hasn't fared any better either, sad to say, becuase I have liked the Novels that I have read of his....
The Frankenstien series would have been excellent...but it was butchered beyond belief when it was brought to tv and The Watcher?
OMFG!! It made me just wanna cry...me, a grown man!! With how beyond horrible it was!!
Maybe with the crop of new up and coming directors....some of Koontz Books will be turned into something great....
"Lighting" is one of my all time favorites :)
Weregirl
Yeah!
Guillermo Del Toro making "The Talisman" into a movie?
That would rock!! Excellent idea :)

Re: Favorite Horror Novel turned into a Movie
Sun, June 15, 2008 - 8:02 AMI am also a big fan of HP Lovecraft
I would love to see his stories transformed into something that his Fan/Followers have longed to see brought to the screen with respect and attention to detail that his work needs.
HP Lovecraft has been SUCH a major influence on a lot of well known Horror Authors
Unfortunately....like Stephen King and Dean Koontz....HP Lovecrafts Novels/Short Stories have been brutally hacked and butchered and brought to the screen in shit that is so god fucking awful it is sad!
yeah, yeah, yeahhhhh.....I am sure there those of you here who revel in the campy classic "Re-Animator" movie that is a "cult" classic...and...even I have to admit in a "guilty pleasure" sort of way that I love the movie "From Beyond" (There!! I said it and admit it!! Ha Ha!!)
I would just like to see a group of Producers with the proper talent and backing and love for HP's work bring his legends of The Cuthulu Mythos to life in all of their horrific glory
(The closest we have come so far I think....was a glimpse/nod/ode to HP in Guillermo Del Toro's "Hellboy" which I loved!!)

Wed, June 18, 2008 - 9:42 AMMax Brook's WWZ has been optioned by Brad Pitt's production company.
Phil Nutman's "Wet Works" has a better chance of being made into a movie now that Phil is a movie producer!
