Rob Zombie is the man once again. His vision of Micheal Myers is creepy as fuck. The kid that plays the young Micheal Myers does a wicked job as well.

For everyone's viewing pleasure.. I'm going to provide a link to the Workprint of the Halloween 2007 film.. It's not the final cut alot of things have been added as well as things removed from the final film but this will give some an Idea on the movie...
The final release to me is much better but for those of us that have seen the film it's good to see what's missing or added to the final release

When i first heard that he was making this movie. I had hopes that he will add something different to it. He had the chance to give a well known horror icon a bad ass background, and he failed at it. There was no real creepy aspect to it, and there was no connection to the characters. After the first 20 minutes it became like every other Halloween movie. I like Rob Zombie's movies but this to me was a flop. I just hope that it was because he didn't have complete creative freedom to do this movie.

I kinda liked the ending of the Workprint better. I can see why the studio's would want him to film a different ending though.

I liked the first half with the young Michael Myers. Once they started to "reimagine" aka remake the original film...
they lost me. Boring as hell ! Crappy acting. and predictable ( tits and blood ). I think he should have stuck with
the theme in the beginning of the film. I was intrigued with the story. It was creepy and exciting. The ending? Not so much.

but wasn't the Original Predictable with Tits and Blood and had some crappy acting????? YES.. So yeah he stayed true to the film in that apsect... I thought it was good very well done and a hell of a lot better than Remakes like Texas Chainsaw and some others that could've been way better...

I think he was afraid to do a full blown Prequel because no one would buy into it but after seeing what he was able to do with it I wish he did... He could've gotten away with it.. It still had the elements of a Halloween film in the Prequel stage...

Like I've said in other posts other movies like Nightmare on Elm st.. I don't think a prequel is going to go over so well unless it's a prequel/remake like this was

I agree with you partially about the original. But I think the original also had more to add.
Tension and atmosphere for example. I didn't feel that in Zombies film. The second half of
the film felt rushed. Like...."blah blah blah...you know what happens." IMHO better to take
a chance on a prequel than turning out a half baked piece o' crap like this one.

this movie was awesome! i cant wait to see it again! rob zombie showed how much better his movie making skills are getting. i felt sorry for little micheal, he actually had a reason to be fucked in the head...the kid they picked was perfect! i loved the ending...exactly how i would react if i shot someone point blank in the face....(atleast i think i would act that way).

he stayed true to the movie but just gave it a twist...his own twist....i loved it! of, course you knew what was going to happen! its a remake....hello! every character had the same personality as the first movie...and the tits....stayin true to the 70's and early 80's! you don't see it anymore!
              FABULOUS! i love you rob!

Okay, The Devil's Rejects is definitely one of my favorite movies ever.

This Halloween - not so much. I liked it, but agree with others that the "remake" part blew chunks. The only thing cool about that was the return of Danielle Harris. What was up with the remix of the theme song!?

What I did REALLY like was that he put a face to the child who became Michael Meyers. That kid was fucked! The prequel was definitely good times. And I love seeing the same people from his other movies & the comeback of Sid Haig - classic.

I thought Zombie did a great job as portraying Micheal as the Shape. Showing how a 6'7" dude in a mask can hide in the shadows in broad daylight and not be noticed.

it was good (and deliciously brutal)....but totally unnecessary.
i thought the first half was excellent as Mr. Zombie made it his own.
the whole last half was almost a carbon copy of the original.
he should of followed through with his own vision.

I'd blame the studio for the last half of the movie being the way it was. They wanted to continue on with the franchise while Zombie's Workprint had a more Final ending that flowed way better.

The first half of the film is told mostly from young MM's perspective.
Perhaps the second half would have been better had they continued
on that same track? The transition just seemed clunky to me. We already
know what happens. So why not tell it from another point of view?

With Halloween being one of my favorite horror movies, I was a little unsure at first how I would feel about the remake. But having loved Rejects and House so much, I felt I could trust Rob to do his best. I wasn't disappointed. I thought it turned out very well. I really liked the emphasis he put on the young Michael and found myself really feeling for him and his issues. It was definitely more gory than the first, and while some of the scenes later in the movie told the story different from the first one, I felt it still held to the spirit of the story.
Rob likes to make you feel for the bad guy and relate to him. Just like in House and Rejects, you identify with the crazies and kinda like them by the end of the movie. I actually felt sorry for Michael when Laurie rejected him. Overall, I thought it was great and I will buy it on dvd to add to my collection.
