Did anyone see The Mist commerical?
I believe it's a Stephen King movie. I'm psyched that SK has another movie out. Hopefully, it does well.

Re: The Mist
Fri, November 23, 2007 - 8:51 AMWhen I read this book (years ago), I thought it would make a great movie.
I have this irrational fear of driving through fog and mist. I have to have the windows rolled up. It might be because of this book ... -

Re: The Mist
Sat, November 24, 2007 - 1:26 AMSaw it. It was awful. Horribly one-dimensional characters, bad digital effects, and an ending that is possibly the most bleak, unjust ever. Buh. I expect more from a Drabont/King collaboration... but this is baaaad. Bad. -

Re: The Mist
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 2:31 PMI thought the production value was really bad, but I really adored the film. Small budget horror that is about the apocalypse.... the end of times... and how society falls apart. The religious angle is dead on.... and the paranoia.
I loved the alternate dimension stuff, and I thought the monsters were amazing.. sort of like a Tim Burton alternate dinosaur world. I thought the huge ones were fairly terrifying.
and forget unjust... the ending is supposed to be brutal, painful, and gut wrenching. For a fact, that guy would go insane never to come back. It is one of the single most fucked up endings I have ever seen.
Huh... I thought this film was really quite good. -

Re: The Mist
Sat, May 17, 2008 - 6:44 AMI saw this Movie when it first came out in the Theater....my initial reaction was.....ehhhhhh, it was just OK...which for pretty much any Novel of Stephen King's that been made into a movie? Says a lot, in my personal opinion there ae few if ANY of his books that have been correctly portrayed/made into a worthwhile movie...now I know I am going to probably get a lot of flack from fellow Tribe members here for saying this, but it is..again...my personaly opinion here that's all.
I think that "Stand By Me" was done well, "Carrie" (The Orgininal Movie) scared the HELL out of me as a very young kid when I saw it in the theater wayyyyyyyy back when....the re-imaginings of both the Shining and Salem's Lot were much better than the Movies that were made (Ok, I admit Jack Nicholson was THE only goos thing about Kubrick's version of The Shining!!) and "Misery" was pretty good I have to admit.
Everything else is nothing but PURE and terribly made crap!! And it's just so frustrating and aggravating and annoying...to think...wellllll....maybe THIS one is the movie that a Director will finally GET right and really make the fans of Horror and Stephen Kings books happy!!
Look at such Movies as....Christine, Pet Cemetary, Needful Things (That book was pure crap anyways), Cujo, Firestarter, Hearts Of Atlantis....I can go on with a list here but I won't you get the idea.
With the "Mist"?
I thought that finally Frank Darabont would get it right! I read on a few of the Entertainment web sites that visit daily that this was going to be good and that it would be a "must see" for horror fans because the special effects and the characters in the movie were going to be awesome!
Well my opinion of the movie itself?
I thought it was just an average movie...nothing to really write home about.
The creepy monsters/special effects? Eh, soright...nothing really made me JUMP or scare the crap out of me
And the ending?
I won't ruin it for anyone who has yet to see the DVD...but...yeah, it is pretty bleak...which I thought was interesting...it reminded me of the way John Carpenter back when he was in his prime as a great Director (Com ON!! I dare you to say that "The Thing" and "Halloween" (The Original) "The Fog" and Escape From New York" are NOT Classics by Carpenter?!?! :) LOL!!!)...he never ended any of his movies on a happy La La La smiles all around sort of way.
Ok
That's my view on "The Mist"
Better to have seen THIS one on DVD my friends!
It sucks that there were some of us who paid to see this in the Theater -

Re: The Mist
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 10:02 AMi got it on dvd because i friend recommended it.
BUUUUTTTT......
i got the 2 disc set, because the 2nd disc has the movie in black & white....which is how Frank Darabont intended for it to be made, but the studio slapped him down. my friend said it was far better in black & white.
i've only watched the b/w version....which i liked quite a bit. it gives the monsters a very 1950's classic horror film. i thought Marcia Gay Harden's performance was fantastic. now i don't even want to bother watching the color version.
the ending is predictable....i was disappointed. but considering how bad most King films turn out..... -

Re: The Mist
Yesterday, 7:08 PMthe ending was total bull-shit man! that guy was a coward in my opinion. and the mob
mentality of the people in the grocery store just sick.
